MINUSCA welcomes the release of the hostages

Bangui, 24 January 2015 - The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) welcomes the release of the French aid worker and the Central African religious man on Friday 23 January 2015.
MINUSCA reiterates its strong and unequivocal condemnation of the unacceptable practices of abduction, which cannot thrive in a country aspiring to recover from a complex crisis.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in the Central African Republic and Head of MINUSCA, Babacar Gaye, encourages armed groups to distance themselves from the spiral of needless violence and to participate in the nationwide public consultations ahead of the Bangui Forum. The Bangui Forum seeks to create the necessary conditions for a sustainable peace in the Central African Republic.
