Closure of MINUSMA

In accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2690, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) closed on 31 December 2023. The SRSG Meets with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, met with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, in Algiers on Tuesday evening, 25 August 2015.

The discussions focused on the need to continue the efforts to bring the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali to fruition, as well as on the means that can facilitate this process for the stability and prosperity of the country.

The two officials also reviewed the security situation and stressed the importance of restoring peace, which is the only way to prevent problems in the smooth functioning of the process that was unanimously adopted by all the Malian parties.

In addition, the two officials agreed to continue the consultations to help the Malians overcome any difficulties that might arise in the future.
