The Lebanon Independent Border Assessment Team (LIBAT), dispatched by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, began its second mission to Lebanon today.
The team will conduct a broad review of Lebanon's ongoing efforts to enhance its border management capacity following the recommendations of LIBAT's first visit to Lebanon in 2007.
The team is composed of four persons with a range of military, police and customs experience. The team will carry out consultations with Lebanese officials as well as other partners already assisting Lebanon in this area. The team is expected to be in the country for two weeks and will issue a report to the Secretary General following this mission.
