Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

14 Dec 10 - Update on Khor Abeche attacks

14 December 2010 - The current security situation in the Khor Abeche village, South Darfur, is improving, but remains tense. Following attacks carried out on 10 and 11 December, approximately 45 households from the locality have moved to the town of Menawashi, located 25km west of Khor Abeche and 70km north of Nyala.

The Mission continues to provide shelter and water to those in front of UNAMID's team site.
