Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

20 Dec 10 - Update on Khor Abeche situation

20 December 2010 - Following last week’s clashes between Sudanese Armed Forces and Sudan Liberation Army / Minni Minnawi in Khor Abeche, South Darfur, UNAMID peacekeepers are currently carrying out a verification patrol of the area.

The Mission continues to safeguard civilians sheltered outside its nearby team site and is also currently working to secure air access to the region for humanitarian missions.
