The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

Update on missing peacekeepers

13 April 2010 - The four UNAMID peacekeepers who went missing on 12 April remain unaccounted for. UNAMID continues to work closely with the Government of the Sudan and local authorities in the search for the missing personnel.

JSR Gambari has today confirmed that the peacekeepers, two male and two female, are from South Africa and serve as police advisors.
