Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS), established on 15 April 1995, supported the Federal Government’s peace and reconciliation efforts. Its mandate ended on 3 June 2013, with its responsibilities transferred to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

The Secretary-General submits his report on the situation of Somalia to the Security Council

New York, 30 December 2010 – The Secretary-General's Report (S/2010/675) provides an update on major developments in Somalia and assesses the political, security, human rights and humanitarian situation as well as progress made in implementing the United Nations strategy for Somalia. The Report also covers the operational activities of the United Nations and the international community, as well as developments in counter-piracy activities.
