MINUSCA is addressing new violence outbreak in Bria

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is taking appropriate measures to contain the violence outbreak in Bria (450 km northeast of Bangui) between presumed anti-Balaka elements and the FPRC Arab faction.

MINUSCA Force and Police are conducting patrols throughout the city to refrain belligerents from moving inside Bria and to prevent an escalation of violence. Peacekeepers are also providing  protection to the internally displaced persons, including 5,000 to 6,000, in particular women and children, who sought refuge in a MINUSCA camp.

MINUSCA is working with the Central African authorities in view of on an immediate cessation of hostilities and alerts on the consequences of an escalation of violence in Bria, particularly the humanitarian risks.
