MINUSCA calls on all armed groups to abide by their commitments to the peace process
The United Nations Multidimensional integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) calls on all armed groups to abide by the commitments they made under the July 2014 Brazzaville Cessation of Hostilities agreement and the May 2015 Bangui Forum DDRR agreement.
MINUSCA notes that a range of armed elements have not respected these undertakings, as manifested in the violent actions perpetrated in Bangui since 26 September by elements linked to Anti-Balaka and ex-Seleka.
MINUSCA reiterates its strong determination to stop elements of all armed groups from causing harm to the civilian population, as demonstrated in robust action north of Sibut on 10-12 October 2015.
In connection with these latest events, MINUSCA calls on the FPRC to disarm, re-group and enter pre-DDR activities as per the commitments made in Brazzaville and at the Bangui Forum. MINUSCA has made clear to all armed groups, and in particular to the FPRC leadership, that there is no room for negotiation on these commitments.
MINUSCA and its international partners stand ready to use the full extent of their mandate to ensure the protection of civilians, to support the political process and Transitional Authorities. MINUSCA and its G8-CAR partners are determined to ensure the holding of free, fair, transparent and inclusive presidential and legislative elections as the most effective manner to reestablish constitutional order and democratic governance in the Central African Republic
