MINUSCA condemns attacks against its police patrols

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic, MINUSCA condemns the attack by armed elements who opened fire Friday night on a police patrol in the "Combatants neighborhood" of the 8th arrondissement of the capital Bangui leaving six wounded peacekeepers.

These repeated attacks against UN peacekeepers must stop immediately.

MINUSCA recalls that peacekeeping forces were deployed in the CAR to support the Central African people in their search for a lasting peace. It is therefore unacceptable that peacekeepers, who came from far and remote countries to help Central Africans, become the target of such attacks.

MINUSCA appeal to Central Africans not to be diverted from the path of peace and reconciliation in which they were engaged with the signing of the ceasefire signed on 23 July 2014
