MINUSCA expresses indignation over new violence in Ngakobo

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) deplores new violence which occurred in the early morning of 15 October 2016, at Ngakobo, in Ouaka prefecture.

Shots broke out in a displaced persons camp in this locality for reasons which are still unascertained. The perpetrators of these despicable acts are also unknown for the time being.

A total of 11 people were killed, while ten others were injured and evacuated to Bambari hospital. MINUSCA took immediate steps to strengthen its position around the displaced persons camp and to intensify its patrols.

“While MINUSCA intervenes on all fronts so that assailants do not cause harm, and to ensure the integrity of the lives of the civilian population, it is intolerable that the agitators could attempt, once again, to jeopardize hard-won gains and thereby sow devastation among civilian populations”, stresses the Special Representative and Chief MINUSCA, Parfait Onanga Anyanga.

MINUSCA remains vigilant and reiterates its determination to fully implement its mandate.
