MINUSCA helps initiate, facilitate, and strengthen local peace and reconciliation efforts by placing women and young people at the heart of peacebuilding and socio-economic recovery.
Examples of Achievements
- In partnership with the Central African Women's Organization (OFCA), MINUSCA conducted a large-scale awareness campaign under the theme "Women: The Foundation of Peace" from 31 January to 19 February 2025. The campaign reached five villages and engaged more than 1,460 people, including 966 women.
- MINUSCA also supported the Prefectural Youth Councils (CPJOs) in organizing Youth Caravans for Peace and Social Cohesion in Bambari, bringing together more than 2,000 participants, including 1,200 women.
- During 2024–2025, MINUSCA, in partnership with the UNHCR Field Office in Bouar, launched an economic empowerment project that transformed the lives of more than 1,000 marginalized women and young people in Baoro, Bouar, Gallo, and Baboua. Through a combination of income-generating activities, literacy training, and capacity-building, participants acquired essential skills that opened pathways to employment, improved livelihoods, and renewed hope for a better future.
- In partnership with UN Women, MINUSCA implemented a programme to strengthen the participation of women and youth throughout the 2025–2026 electoral cycle in 10 prefectures. The Mission supported community dialogue initiatives aimed at removing barriers to women's participation in public life. These efforts contributed to increased participation of women and young people in the most recent elections.
