End-of-year message from the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Central African Republic and Head of MINUSCA
Central Africans, dear MINUSCA colleagues, good day.
I extend to you, your families, and all your loved ones my best wishes for joyful year-end celebrations and a happy new year.
May 2025 be a year of good health, serenity and stability for all.
For MINUSCA, the year 2024 was marked by tangible achievements and progress in the implementation of our mandate in support to the Central African Republic, including our support for the extension of the presence and authority of the State in its administrative and security dimensions, as well as highly visible progress in the management of border areas, in the decentralization of the implementation of the peace agreement, to name but a few.
These results have been possible thanks to the close cooperation between the Mission and all our partners.
First and foremost, the Central African people, in all their rich diversity, unity and attachment to the Central African Republic;
The localities, institutions, national administrations, local and national authorities, the Government, of course, and all the institutions of the Republic;
The representatives of the people, civil society organizations, regional and international organizations, and the entire international community.
These achievements have been the result of the dedication, constant efforts, and sacrifices of the committed personnel of MINUSCA, always ready to serve.
Dear colleagues, it is thanks to your unwavering efforts and sacrifices that these results have been achieved, that these results have been possible.
I have a special thought for those of our colleagues who left us this year, for their families; colleagues who left us this year in the service of peace and stability in the Central African Republic. May their souls continue to rest in peace.
Dear colleagues, we must continue along this path, consolidating our common gains, shared gains, with the support of all Central African Republic's partners. In 2025, the year that begins in a few days' time, MINUSCA will implement its mandate as defined in Resolution 2759, adopted unanimously last 14 November.
We deeply value the recognition, support, and expectations embodied in this renewed unanimity of the Security Council regarding the Mission’s mandate.
On the one hand, recognition of the progress made by the Central African Republic and the results achieved by the Mission in implementing its previous mandate.
But also support for the effective and productive cooperation between our host country, the Central African Republic, and the Mission, and this cooperation that has enabled us to achieve these results, an alignment with national strategic priorities, and, finally, the expectations that this unanimity contains, expectations of the consolidation and extension of these gains, of our gains.
In my personal name, in the name of all my collaborators and colleagues at MINUSCA, and in the name of the United Nations system in the Central African Republic, I can assure you unequivocally that the United Nations remains by the side of the Central African Republic and its people.
Dear Central Africans, dear colleagues, I wish you all a happy new year 2025.
