Following the second round of the legislative elections and the legislative, regional, and municipal by-elections held in 19 of the 20 prefectures of the Central African Republic, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) welcomes the peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls.
As part of its mandate to support the electoral process, and as it did during the presidential, legislative, and local elections of 28 December 2025, MINUSCA provided multifaceted support to the Central African authorities in the organization of these elections. It transported nearly 30 tons of equipment from Bangui to 23 localities, as well as personnel from the National Electoral Authority (ANE), contributed to voter and candidate outreach activities, and provided technical support. The Mission also, alongside and in close collaboration with the Central African Defence and Security Forces, implemented the Integrated Elections Security Plan (PISE) throughout the country.
Thanks to this support, all 3,435 polling stations opened, enabling Central African men and women to exercise their right to vote without constraint or fear.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Central African Republic and Head of MINUSCA, Valentine Rugwabiza, notes that the Mission has fully and successfully implemented its mandate. She welcomes the fact that elections were held throughout the country, including in all sub-prefectures of Haut-Mbomou, notably in Bambouti, where voters were unable to cast their ballots last December due to violence.
MINUSCA continues to implement its mandate by securely transporting back to Bangui the results envelopes, polling station records, and equipment. However, it was not involved in the observation of the elections and will not be involved in the counting of votes or the announcement of results, which fall under the prerogatives of the ANE.
