MINUSCA welcomes the arrival in Bangui of electoral equipment

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) notes with satisfaction the progress made in the electoral process with the delivery of forms and 400 camera kits on 10 and 13 June respectively. 

This first shipment of equipment and documents will be used for the training of electoral agents responsible for the registration of voters and the launch before the end of June of the registration process in Bangui and the surrounding districts.

MINUSCA welcomes the mobilization of the Transitional Authorities under the auspices of the Strategic Committee on elections whose last meeting was followed by a visit of its chairperson, the Prime Minister of the Transition, Mr. Mahamat Kamoun, the Special Representative of the Secretary General and head of MINUSCA, Lt-General (td) Babacar Gaye, and his deputy, Mr. Aurélien Agbénonci, as well as members of the diplomatic corps to the building recently allocated  to the National Elections Authority (ANE) which will house the Data Processing Centre (Centre de Traitement de Données). Participants were presented with samples of forms and camera kits which will be used for voter registration.

MINUSCA welcomes the determination of the Transitional Authorities to organize the elections before the end of 2015. MINUSCA takes this opportunity to thank international partners for their sustained support to the electoral process and reiterates it readiness, in accordance with its mandate, to maintain its support to the Transitional Authorities.
