Release of the Central African Minister of Youth and Sports
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) welcomes the release of the Central African Minister of Youth and Sports, Armel Ningatoloum Sayo, which occurred on the evening of Tuesday 10 February 2015. This positive outcome is the result of multiple efforts since the abduction of Mr. Sayo on 25 January 2015.
MINUSCA reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of kidnappings which only complicates a deep crisis that the international community is helping Central African Republic to solve.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Central African Republic, Babacar Gaye, calls on all parties, including armed groups, to join immediately the current momentum for national reconciliation and social cohesion for the return of lasting peace in the Central African Republic.
